OH MY GOD YES.

YES YES YES

I may be slightly excited.

ETA: All right, let me explain: After the balloon goes up and the world is left an iiradiated wasteland with mutants and giant monsters galore, a group of heroic scientists operating out of an underground complex wear medieval-looking armor and roam the countryside in defense of the remaining few bastions of civilization. Riding giant dalmatians.
Dear God, I want it right. Now.

OH SNAP.

Rereading the Spider-Girl trade for my review, a little notion kept tickling the back of my brain, that there was something else here that could be really, really cool. . .and I got a mental flash:

The Peter Parker Mysteries.

Think about it. Yes, Peter isn't an active superhero anymore but he's still a heroic character, more than capable of getting into all sorts of adventures. It'd be Castle meets Heroes, a fun little series of paperbacks in the tradition of the Spenser novels by Robert B. Parker. He may have a prosthetic leg and walk with a cane but Peter Parker is no less a hero than his daughter May, and following him around on cases he's working to solve would be a hell of a lot of fun. Plus, the notion of an older hero dealing with being a father, getting older, and his body no longer capable of the superhuman derring-do of old (whilst still being pretty badass. . .imagine a group of thugs trying to jump Old Pete and him kicking their ass in much the same way as Old Bruce did in the pilot episode of Batman Beyond). I think it'd be sick awesome.

You listening Marvel? Million-dollar idea and I'm giving it to you. If you let me write it. ;p

These things, I give them to you for free:

As I mentioned in a previous review, Red 5 Comics' Atomic Robo is joy. I encourage you to go to their site to show some love (or pick up the individual issues and previous trades in one fell swoop, as they're still available for order from finer comicbook stores everywhere. Like this one, say). It is bliss in purest form, and an example of just how amazingly entertaining and enjoyable a comicbook can truly be.

Yet I can understand that there may be some hesitation involved in committing to a series you've never heard about or really sampled in terms of flavor. So you know what? I'm such a swell guy I'm going to link you to Nuklear Power, where creators Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener have done a free Atomic Robo story. Free! Who are you to resist free joy? Read it here.

You know I spoil you.

Solicitation titillation.

BATMAN AND ROBIN #1

Eh. . .I dunno guys. . .

Written by Grant Morrison: Art and Cover by Frank Quitely.

Hm, not bad, I liked both of 'em on All-Star Superman, but a Batman book? I'm not sure about that. I like the characters of course(not being an idiot), but what's the draw for a guy like me?

"Batman Reborn" begins here! With the reunited team of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, WE3,New X-Men), this first issue kicks off a 3-part story arc that can't be missed!

They did WE3 too? I've heard that book is really good, if occasionally heart-rending. Go on.

The new Dynamic Duo hit the streets with a bang in their new flying Batmobile as they face off against an assemblage of villains called the Circus of Strange.

I'm sorry, what was that?

The new Dynamic Duo hit the streets with a bang in their new flying Batmobile as they face off against an assemblage of villains called the Circus of Strange.

Flying batmobile?

. . .their new flying Batmobile. . .

Great googly moogly.

They also tackle their first mission investigating a child who's been abducted by the mysterious Domino Killer.

Yeah, that's really great but the batmobile actually flies right? This isn't some cop-out like it has a jet engine in the back or something. . .'cause I saw that in the '60s show and the '89 movie. . .

But will everything go smoothly?

Sir, in a flying batmobile everything goes amazingly.

And who exactly are the new Batman and Robin?

Well it's so obvious: Christian Bale and Anton Yelchin. I hardly need to get Hercule Poirot on speed-dial for that 'mystery'. Sheesh, these guys. . .

The newest era of The Dark Knight begins here!

Flying batmobile. Well played Morrison, well played indeed. You know my weaknesses only too well. Consider my money spent.
